Match Algarve is a singular mixed-use project contributing to the diversification of the hospitality and tourism industry in Algarve, offering the usual facilities such as hotel, apartments and villas, swimming pools, spa, health club and gym, but also plenty of sport, medical and conference facilities.

The all year round facilities will attract professional and amateur teams, but also groups of executives, companies and families wishing to experience the ultimate comprehensive sports experience to those practicing football, rugby, cycling, tennis, athletics and water sports.

Match Algarve aims to achieve the positioning of an High Performance Sports Centre, geared primarily towards training and recovering athletes whether they are professional or amateurs. The project is located in Lagos, west Algarve and will contribute to the region at large being fundamental to reduce Algarve’s seasonality.

Carvoeiro Clube Group is replicating the success factors achieved in Lagoa, where it is already the largest tourism organization, towards other municipalities in Algarve, hence the group’s 2020 Vision and Strategy is aligned with both market opportunities and the regional tourism policies and plans. This project marks the beginning of a new development focus for the Carvoeiro Clube Group and its 2020 Vision to become one of the regional leading hospitality companies.

The Project

Match Algarve is located inland on a property with 610 hectares outside the municipality of Lagos. The architectural concept design of Match Algarve is being developed based on the country estate natural and existing features, the professional sports and hospitality atmosphere it aims to create.

The refurbishment of the remaining buildings, part of old manor house of Herdade Corte do Bispo, will be the social, commercial and administrative centre of the complex offering shops, restaurants and coffee shops, conference rooms and others, enhancing its past architectonic value right in the middle of Match Algarve.

The centre will be surrounded by sport and leisure facilities, a hotel and a range of accommodation facilities that combine modernity and tradition ideal for sports tourism and active holidays.

SPORTS FACILITIES

CENTRAL FOOTBALL AND RUGBY FIELD WITH ATHLETICS TRACK
Featuring a professional size field to host tournaments, with athletics and running track, and all the support facilities such as bathrooms with changing and massage rooms including for people with reduced mobility, stand with capacity for 2.000 people, entrance and reception area, meeting rooms and social living areas with natural light and views over the complex.

8 FOOTBALL AND RUGBY TRAINING FIELDS WITH PRIVATE ACCOMMODATION
Training fields offering total privacy and accommodation with conference rooms and lounges. The private accommodation can offer total privacy, being secluded from any contact with other teams, media or visitors and allowing for intensive training maximizing internship times.

8 TENNIS COURTS
8 Tennis courts with different types of flooring from Australian Blue hard courts to astroturf courts to be maintained to the international tennis federation level ideal for all sorts of social events or official tennis federation tournaments.

36-HOLE FOOTGOLF COURSE
A fast growing and recently developed leisure sport activity which combines the fundamentals of golf with the technical abilities of football. The field resembles a golf course and will occupy 25.000 m2 of land. This shall be the first purposely built footgolf course in the Algarve and one of the first in the world that was not adapted from an existing golf course.

SPORTS MEDICAL CENTRE AND HIGH PERFORMANCE TRAINING UNIT
The complex will offer not only high performance facilities but also excellent conditions for athletes recovery. The sports medical centre, will be designed for medical / sports research and development, diagnosis and recovery of athletes, thus being equipped with the latest diagnostic, therapy and research technology to enhance the training and physical and mental development of athletes and coaches.

GYM, SPA AND HEALTH CLUB
Taking advantage of all the sports infrastructure of the centre and some of the most advanced technology in this field, Match Algarve will provide all the resources for physical condition assessment and indoor training.

PHYSICAL MAINTENANCE CIRCUITS
Using the already existing rural paths, there will be physical training circuits, off-road and BTT.

GRASS-COVERED FIELD AND SWIMMING POOL
Equipment with a leisure nature for physical preparation and recovery for teams and athletes.

ACCOMMODATION

Match Algarve’s hospitality concept reflects the same positioning implemented at the sports level, by providing all the privacy that professional, amateur teams or company’ executives look for. Thinking of each athlete and each team, we’ve created a range of different accommodation options that inclusively allow for more than one professional team to be onsite at the same time without any unnecessary contact, making it the ideal destination for tournaments and internships. The project’s masterplan features 8 secluded and independent accommodation facilities each with its own private sport and support range facilities.

FIVE STAR HOTEL

In the centre of the complex, there’s a 5-star hotel offering 120 suites with a concept that resembles a museum of sports honoring famous sport players. The hotel will be designed to accommodate teams or individual athletes, journalists and technical staff, company executives on incentive trips, and for sport tourists looking for all inclusive active holidays. The hotel provides a commercial area, restaurants and a fully equipped congress centre.

25 LUXURY VILLAS

Designed for longer stays of either athletes under medical recovery programs or merely to enjoy the natural surroundings of the complex, Match Algarve will also offer 25 villas that can be sold for private use or be part of the complex rental program. All villas will offer high quality living standards aimed to target the luxury segment looking for exclusivity and privacy.

Match Algarve is located in the transition area between the coast of the Algarve and the mountains, strategically implanted in a plot covering 610 hectares of land formed by valleys and hills, a pinewood forest, vineyards and seven large dams.

Match Algarve will be born in the plot of an old farm, Herdade da Corte do Bispo, that is located in the outskirts of Lagos and only 40 minutes driving from the Faro International Airport and Algarve’s Football Stadium built on purpose for Euro 2004 and hosting professional tournaments thereafter.

The project is a few kilometers away from Lagos and other major towns and facilities such as the International Racetrack of Portimão.

Algarve is an ideal and privileged location for such type of sport complexes benefiting from one of the best climates in Europe with almost 300 days of sun per year, warm and dry summers, and mild winters with little rainfall, offering teams the opportunity to increase their training periods.

SPORTS AND COMPETITION

Practicing sports and enjoying time outdoors is possible almost 300 days per year in the Algarve.
